Client Challenge:
We were approached by a fledgling private equity firm with a low headcount and a lofty goal to compete with the established giants in the market. Their biggest challenge? They had virtually no IT infrastructure in place: employees used their personal computers for work and they didn’t yet have a company website set up.
Linde Group Solution:
Comprehensive Assessment: As we had little to no hardware, software, or existing business systems to evaluate, we started from scratch. Our team worked with the client to identify everything they needed to build a secure, scalable IT environment that would support their business growth and goals while meeting SEC guidelines.
Strategic Roadmap: Given our clients’ asap-requested timeline, we designed a faster-than-normal implementation; while we cautioned them that it might be a little bumpy to require their team to make so much change all at once, they were up to the challenge! Over the next four months, we delivered a swift, methodical implementation plan—and our client took on nearly every suggestion we made.
Implementation and Support: Our team not only provided strategic consulting but also took on the role of a fully outsourced IT department for our client: we designed and implemented all necessary infrastructure and technical solutions, including encryption protocols, access controls, security monitoring, and other cybersecurity controls to align with NIST requirements.
We also built out a robust cybersecurity and business resilience posture, including disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and regular tabletop exercises to ensure the organization could effectively respond if—or when—anything went wrong.
...And we did it all in record time! Not in terms of how fast our consultants can work, but in terms of how fast a company is typically willing to deploy entirely new systems.
Ongoing Support and Monitoring: One of the most overlooked aspects of an implementation is the change management. Our client made a bold, brave choice to front-load the pain of changing nearly every existing workflow they had. This meant we were on call every day until the new muscle-memory kicked in and all employees were fully comfortable in the new systems.
As our client's technology needs evolved, we also helped them responsibly adopt AI tools—including appropriate guardrails and security considerations—and integrate them into their new systems and workflows.
Outcomes and Key Results:
Successful Transition: Our client has reaped massive rewards from this all-in approach.
Effortless Agility: By building their technology, cybersecurity, and operational processes from the ground up, they’ve been able to stay nimble while operating with the infrastructure and security posture of a much larger organization—without the overhead of one.
Outperforming Their Peers: Our client is still a small company that now actively competes (and wins!) business from firms that are several times their size.
Stay tuned for part II, where we'll explore in greater detail how we set our client up for total AI success.
